Reading & Running Training Program Kicks Off Next Week

Arlington Public Library and DC Road Runners have partnered this summer to create the Reading and Running 2015, a fitness training program that starts next Tuesday, July 21, from 7 – 8 p.m. The free, nine-week program aims to help participants build from walking to running a 5K with the goal to participate in the 14th Annual Arlington Police, Fire & Sheriff 9/11 Memorial 5K, which takes place on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m.

The group meet at Central Library, located at 1015 N. Quincy St., Arlington, on Tuesdays and Thursdays and walk or run. As part of the program participants can attend seminars and discussions on nutrition and physical activity and choose reading material from a list of inspirational reading list and take part in a book discussion. Participants must sign a waiver and can take advantage of a complete training plan and tips from Road Runners Club of America certified coaches.

Children may participate, but must be supervised by an adult. For more information or to register, visit dcroadrunners.org/sign-up/reading-and-running or call 703-228-5993.
