The scene at Kingstowne Lake, where Kenneth Duane Berhardt, 36, of Falls Church, was found dead on Saturday.

A dead body found in Kingstowne Lake on Saturday was identified yesterday as 36-year-old Falls Church-area resident Kenneth Duane Berhardt, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. Police received a report on Saturday of what appeared to be a body in the pond near Kingstowne Village Parkway in Alexandria. Authorities arrived and located the body of the adult male in the lake.

Homicide and Crime Scene detectives arrived. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body, they said. Bernhardt was identified through fingerprint evidence. The Northern Virginia Regional Identification System, Investigative Support Division, notified homicide detectives of the body’s identity.

The office of the Chief Medical examiner determined that the death was from drowning and not criminal in nature.

According to detectives, “there does not appear to be anything overtly suspicious and therefore no apparent threat to public safety.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Solvers electronically by visiting fairfaxcrimesolvers.org.
