Winners of ‘Dear Editor’ Writing Competition Announced

The Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation announced the winners of its Dear Editor writing competition this week. Katherine Donovan won first place, Umika Pathak came in second place, Joshua Nicholson came in third place and Elsa Llera-Jones was an honorable mention for their letters about current events and social justice.

The contest carries on the work of Falls Church and Tinner Hill legend Dr. E.B. Henderson, who had more than 3,000 letters to editors published over a 50-year period, defending civil liberties and the value of ethnic diversity.

The students will be awarded their prizes at the Tinner Hill Blues Festival on June 13, on the main performance stage at Cherry Hill Park.
