Arlington Artists Alliance’s 12th annual ArtFest Week is slated for April 10 – 17 at Fort C.F. Smith Park, located at 2411 N. 24th St., Arlington. The week-long celebration of art in Arlington kicks off with an opening reception from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, April 10, in the 1902 Hendry House at Fort C.F. Smith Park, where participants can meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments.

Highlights of ArtFest include an art exhibit and sale featuring the work of more than 30 Arlington-based artists, artist talks and demonstrations and weekend workshops. Many of the events, including a Make a Bookmark session, a Backyard/Travel Sketchbooking workshop and a reading of Charles Simic’s book Dime-Store Alchemy, are free and open to the public.

There will also be a Treasure Hunt for Kids, where kids can search for answers to questions about the Civil War, on Saturday, April 11. For more information, visit arlingtonartistsalliance.org.
