
George Mason High School’s scholastic bowl team won the Conference 35 championship last Friday at Luray High School and advanced to the Region B tournament. The Mustangs defeated Clarke County High School 300-125 in the conference championship.
The Mustangs, who only lost one match throughout the regular season, had a first round bye. In the second round they faced Strasburg High School, who had beaten Luray in round one, and defeated the the Rams 265-110.
Mason moved on to face off against Clarke County High School, the winners of the other tournament bracket, and beat them 285-95 to qualify for the championship in the tournament’s double-elimination format. The Eagles emerged from the games among the one-loss teams to face the Mustangs again in the final.
The Mustangs advanced to the Region B tournament, which is scheduled for this Saturday, Feb. 7, at Luray.
