Jefferson Elementary Hosts ‘Hour of Code’ Events

Thomas Jefferson Elementary School is hosting two Hour of Code events next week as part of Computer Science Week. The events, opportunities for students to get an introduction to computer science, will be held next Wednesday, Dec. 10 and Thursday, Dec. 11, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m in Jefferson’s cafeteria.

Over 200 students are already registered for the one-hour introductory courses, which are designed to demystify coding and show that anybody can learn the basics of computer science while having fun. Participants will be working on devices provided by Falls Church City Public Schools, but are asked to bring earbuds/headphones to the event.

Parents will supervise and work with their children and families with multiple children are invited to attend both nights or bring all of their children on the same night regardless of grade level.

To register for the event, visit goo.gl/vUICHp. For more information about Hour of Code, visit Code.org.
