Local Healthy Vending Co. Hosts Flag Football Tourney

The Northern Virginia branch of H.U.M.A.N. Healthy Vending is partnering with the American Diabetes Association to host a flag football tournament on Saturday, Nov. 15, to raise awareness of childhood obesity, diabetes and malnutrition.

According to H.U.M.A.N. Healthy Vending’s Agatha Kang and Antonio Nguyen, over 260 people are expected to attend the 14-team tournament, which will be held from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Oakton High School.

H.U.M.A.N. Healthy Vending, a company that distributes healthier foods and drinks throughout the country, is new to the Northern Virginia region. Kang and Nguyen opened a franchise of the business over the summer. Kang said that she and Nguyen “wanted to do something that we truly believed in…our goal is to make healthy food more convenient than junk food.”

“Especially now, with nearly one out of three children considered obese or overweight in the US, it is important to teach children how to eat healthier and make healthy food more accessible,” she said.
