Mason High School Grad Earns Academic Accolades

Abby Johansen, a 2011 graduate of George Mason High School and five year member of the Mustangs’ lacrosse program, was named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll last week.

According to a press release announcing the academic honors, Johansen, who plays defense for Old Dominion University’s (ODU) Lady Monarch lacrosse team, was one of 238 student-athletes recognized by the IWLCA who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and have achieved at least junior status.

Johansen is a rising senior at ODU, where she is a political science major and an English literature minor. During the 2014 lacrosse season, Johansen started 14 games for the Lady Monarchs, for whom she scooped up eight ground balls, and caused seven turnovers last season. She also helped force 144 turnovers and 44 failed clears.
