F.C. High School Swim Coach Clayton Joyner Dies at Age 29

Falls Church High School swim coach Clayton Joyner died this Monday, after suffering a major heart last month. He was 29 years old.

The Washington Post‘s Reachforthewall.com site reports that the longtime local coach was in intensive care at Inova Fairfax Hospital for two weeks after a heart attack on April 22.

The Falls Church High School alumnus had coached the Jaguars swim team for the past three years. This past season, his boys and girls teams were both runners-up in their Conference 13, and the boys team went on to place eighth overall at the Virginia 5A State swim and dive championships – the highest state ranking for the team in school history.

A memorial service is planned at Falls Church’s Saint Philip the Apostle Catholic Church for May 17 at 11:30 a.m.
