F.C. Library 2014 Teen Poetry Contest Winners Announced

Mary Riley Styles Public Library will celebrate the winners of its teen poetry contest this Thursday, April 24, with a reception to start at 7 p.m. The public is invited for an evening of poetry, in which winning pieces will be read.

The winning entries in the middle school category were “The National Average” by Cynthia Leonard in first place, “Do Not Miss Me in My Absence” by Fiona Howard in second place, and “Pushing the Barrier” by Lily Cork in third place. “My Days are Interesting” by Christiane Smudde was selected as a runner-up.

The winning entries in the high school category were “Oregon” by Jane Christensen in first place, “A Child’s Innocence” by Aisha Rupert in second place, and “Mother” by Gabriel Brown in third place. “Orientation” by Renee Ranvanera was selected as a runner-up.
