Falls Church Man Struck & Killed in Merrifield

A Falls Church man who was attempting to cross the street was struck a killed Wednesday morning in Merrifield.

Fairfax County Police say 64-year old Leroy Jewell of Falls Church was crossing from the west-side of Gallows Road to the east-side of Belleforest Drive around 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, when he was struck by a 2010 Toyota Corolla in the roadway. Jewell was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The crash remains under investigation but police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
