Beyer Wins First Straw Poll Of 11 Dems Seeking to Replace Moran

Falls Church businessman and former Virginia Lieutenant Gov. Donald S. Beyer Jr. now among 11 candidates seeking the Democratic nomination this spring to replace retiring Rep. James P. Moran, was the winner of a straw poll Saturday night at a Democratic Party event in Mt. Vernon, gathering 105 of 416 total votes cast for the 11 candidates.

A total of 470 people attended the Mt. Vernon Democrats event, and 419 voted in the straw poll. Here are the complete results: Don Beyer 105, Lavern Chatman 83, Patrick Hope 81, Mark Sickles 51, Adam Ebbin 42, Charniele Herring 15, Bill Euille 11, Alfonso Lopez 11, Derek Hyra 7, Mark Levine 7, Bruce Shuttleworth 3.
