Fairfax Co. Seeks Volunteers to Assist Older Adults

Fairfax County seeks volunteers to fulfill several duties in the service of older adults in the Northern Virginia area.

Meals on Wheels needs drivers in Falls Church, as well as Fairfax, Reston, and McLean. Fairfax County needs volunteers to drive older adults to medical appointments and wellness programs, and grocery shoppers and social visitors are needed for older adults in Falls Church, Annandale, and McLean.

The Northern Virginia Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program needs volunteer advocates for residents in assisted living and nursing facilities. Training is provided.

For more information about these volunteer opportunities, call 703-324-5406, visit fairfaxcounty.gov/olderadults, or email VolunteerSolutions@fairfaxcounty.gov.

Additionally, respite care volunteers are needed to give family caregivers of frail older adults a break. Volunteers visit and oversee the safety of the older adult for a few hours each month. Support and training are provided. For more information on this opportunity, contact Kristin Martin at 703-324-7577 or email Kristin.Martin@fairfaxcounty.gov.
