Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School’s ice hockey team played down to the final seconds in a tense game against a challenging Broad Run Middle School team last Friday in the Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League Championship at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex. The teams tied 7-7. The final standings are still up in the air, pending the result of another team’s game next weekend. The team ended the season with a 8-1-1 record in their third season. A packed house at Kettler included VIP guests Mayor David Tarter (center, left), Superintendent Toni Jones (second from far right), and Principal Seidah Ashshaheed (center, right), pictured above with the players.
