Don Beyer Jr. to Run for Moran’s Seat

The News-Press has learned that Falls Church businessman and former Virginia lieutenant governor Donald S. Beyer Jr. will jump into the growing field of Democrats seeking to win their party’s nomination to fill the U.S. congressional seat being vacated this fall by Rep. James P. Moran. Former State Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple will be Beyer’s campaign finance chair.

The Democratic candidates will compete in a June 10 primary election. Others who have announced they will seek that nomination so far are State Del. Patrick Hope, State Del. Mark Sickles, State Del. Charniele Herring and Bruce Shuttleworth.
