Seventh-grader Sameer Miglani correctly answered “China” to the final question “The Taklimakan Desert, home to the Uyghur people, is located north of the Kunlun Mountains in which Asian country?” to win the 2013-14 Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School Geography Bee.
Miglani will now represent MEHMS in the next round, which will require him to take a qualifying test for entrance into the national level competition.
Eighth-grader Thomas Dean was the runner-up, and sixth-grader Helen Morris finished in third.
