Simon Files 3 Equal Rights Bills

In Richmond this week, and formally being sworn in this weekend, Marcus Simon, replacing Jim Scott as the delegate representing the 53rd District that includes the City of Falls Church, announced at a final “kick off” event at the regional office of the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors Monday that he’s already filed three bills aimed at ending discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) persons.

HR 417 prohibits discrimination in employment based on sexual orientation. HR 418 adds discrimination based on sexual orientation as an unlawful discriminatory housing practice. HR 419 broadens the class of individuals who may hold property as tenants by the entireties to include any married couple whose marriage is recognized under the laws of any state in the U.S.
