TJ Cited as ‘Highly Distinguished’ by Va. Board of Ed.

Thomas Jefferson Elementary School is one of two Virginia schools named by the Virginia Board of Education as a Highly Distinguished School for exceeding state and federal benchmarks and raising the achievement of disadvantaged students.

Title I Highly Distinguished schools must exceed all state and federal accountability benchmarks for two consecutive years and have achieved pass rates on English and mathematics Standards of Learning tests at or above the 85th percentile.

“It is an honor to be recognized for good work on the math and English SOL tests,” said Thomas Jefferson Principal Bob Palermo. “I believe that when we guide students be inquirers and engaged learners, we are accomplishing our broader mission and boosting our SOL results.”
