With the announcement by veteran U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf that he will not seek re-election to an 11th term in 2014, Washington D.C.’s The Hill newspaper has listed the race for his successor as one of five key U.S. Congressional races to watch in the mid-term elections. So far, the only announced candidate to vie for the seat is Fairfax County Supervisor John Foust, who is holding his first fundraising event this Friday at his McLean home. Other names have been floated of Democrats who will seek the seat, and though no one has come forward as a candidate on the GOP side, its rumored that State Del. Barbara Comstock of McLean may run, and also State Del. Dick Black of Loudoun County. Black hails from the more conservative region of the district, which is now heavily centered in Loudoun County.

While pundits dismissed the notion of unseating the popular incumbent Wolf, with the seat now open, it is considered up in the air.
