Del. Scott Joins Richmond Kickoff for Simon

Virginia Delegate Jim Scott, who has served the 53rd District including the City of Falls Church, for 22 years, will be in attendance Monday morning, Jan. 6, to help kick off the first Richmond legislative session for his successor Del.-elect Marcus Simon. The event is being hosted by the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors at its headquarters in Merrifield.

Simon will present an overview of the Virginia and Northern Virginia economy and share the House Appropriations Committee’s economic forecast for the upcoming state legislative biennial budget cycle. He will also discuss hot topics expected to dominate the 2014 legislative session including Medicaid expansion, possible repeal of the special fee on hybrid vehicles and ethics and campaign finance reform proposals.

It is also expected that both Del. Scott and Del.-elect Simon will attend the annual “Road to Richmond” brunch hosted by the Fairfax County Democratic Committee Sunday, Jan. 5 at the Springfield Country Club.
