Applications Sought for Emergency Food & Shelter Funds

The cities of Fairfax and Falls Church have been awarded federal funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.

Mary Lee Di Spirito, chair of the Fairfax/Falls Church EFSP local board, recently announced that $3,500 for each city, $7,000 in total, will be offered through an application process to address the needs of persons seeking assistance for rental funding.

Local EFSP volunteers will review grant applications and make awards in February 2014.

Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for EFSP funds must contact Stacy Burke at the Fairfax Salvation Army, 4915 Ox Road, Fairfax, or call 703-385-8700 to obtain an application. The deadline for submitting an application is Jan. 22.
