Local Actors to Portray Illinois Notables at Comedy Spot

340actorsTen local actors will perform a staged reading of theatrical event based on characters from Illinois history next Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Comedy Spot in the Ballston Mall, 4238 Wilson Blvd., Arlington. The event is sponsored by the Illinois State Society of Washington, D.C. and part of the proceeds will be donated to tornado victims in Illinois. Historic Illinois celebrities that will be portrayed include Catherine O’Leary, who will testify in moot court about accusations that her cow might have started the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Other actors will portray Walt Disney, Oscar Mayer, Josephine Baker, Wyatt Earp, Nancy Reagan, gospel singer Mahalia Jackson, Olympic champions Jackie Joyner Kersee and Bonnie Blair, and the ghost of Resurrection Mary. The live theater event starts at 7:30 p.m. and will include cake and refreshments. Tickets are on sale for $25 at IllinoisStateSociety.org. (Courtesy Photo)
