200+ Volunteers Tidy F.C. City in Fall Cleanup

This past Saturday, Oct. 19, more than 200 residents – a 25 percent increase over this spring’s event – turned out to pitch in at the 25th annual Fall Cleanup. Gathering in groups throughout the City, volunteers scoured parks, ditches, streets – some even tackling areas behind dumpsters – picking up trash and debris around the entire City.

Had volunteers not picked it up, most of the trash and debris would have ended up in storm drains or creeks, eventually clogging up pipes and littering streams. In total, more than 46 bags of trash and 36 bags of recycling were collected from the City’s streets and parks and properly disposed of.

Those who missed out on the Clean-Up can still lend a hand throughout the year by taking part in the Adopt-A-Spot program, where volunteers schedule and organize their own clean-ups. To get involved with this program or to find out about the next City-wide cleanup event, contact Allison Lohrenz at alohrenz@fallschurchva.gov or 703-248-5456.
