In support of local food banks and shelters, the Mary Riley Styles Public Library will conduct its annual “Food for Fines” drive from Saturday, Oct. 19, through Sunday, Oct. 27.
“Food for Fines” offers an opportunity for patrons to clear their record of fines while donating food to local community organizations working with the City of Falls Church’s Housing and Human Services Division to provide aid to families in the Falls Church City area.
A single grocery item will cover the fine for a single overdue item, including books, DVDs, audiobooks, and music CDs.
There is no limit on the number or amount of fines that can be cleared or the quantity of overdue material that can be returned. Bills for lost or damaged library materials, however, cannot be paid through this program.
For safety reasons, glass jars, opened or bulging cans, items past their expiration date, or sample or trial-sized items cannot be accepted for donation.
The Mary Riley Styles Public Library is located at 120 N. Virginia Ave., Falls Church. For more information, contact the Circulation Desk at 703-248-5031.
