Arlington Philharmonic Gets $200K Pledge from Emerson Tech Company

The Arlington Philharmonic has recently received a pledge of $200,000 from Emerson, a global technology company based in St. Louis. The contributions will be made in five annual gifts of $40,000, and the first installment has been received.

Patrick J. Sly, Emerson executive vice president, said the contribution was a special consideration made on behalf of Ambassador Roz Ridgway, a retired Emerson director, in recognition of her long service to Emerson and her support of her community.

The Arlington Philharmonic hopes to use the Emerson gift to expand its presence in and across the community. The orchestra is developing plans to increase its offerings from two concerts to three each season, and to grow the size of the orchestra whenever necessary to present “large” orchestral works. Ongoing fundraising efforts will focus on those twin goals.
