Council OK’s Agreements With Arlington

Council OK’s Agreements With Arlington

Coming out of a closed session Monday night, the Falls Church City Council unanimously passed a motion to authorize the City Manager to execute the Judicial Services and Public Safety Agreement and Jailing of Offenders Agreement with Arlington County valid through July 1, 2014 in the form presented.

The motion added that, in the meantime, the City Manager will be tasked with exploring cost savings alternatives. The motion did not include the fire services agreement with Arlington that is still being negotiated and will be brought to the Council at a later date.

A significant increase in the cost to Falls Church of the interjurisdictional agreements with Arlington led the Council to mull the matter in a closed session prior to Monday’s vote.
