Steve Cook, in one of his last official acts as District Governor, presented the District New Generations Avenue of Service Award in the category of small clubs to Falls Church Rotary Club representative Joe Scheibeler (right) at the Northern Virginia Rotary District 7610’s awards and installation banquet at the University of Mary Washington on June 27. The club was recognized for its community youth activities, including holding student speech, music, and essay contests; awarding a Rotary Youth Leadership Scholarship; and sponsoring two high school Interact Clubs, a Youth Exchange student, a World Peace Fellowship applicant, a member of the Group Study Exchange trip to Australia. The club also received one of the district’s three Excellence Awards for the club’s overall activities, which in addition to its youth activities included support of various local and international charitable endeavors.
