Mason’s Bands to Perform Spring Concert

George Mason High School’s bands will be performing Thursday night at the high school.

Percussion will lead off the concert at 7 p.m. with three pieces. The Jazz Ensemble will follow with a handful of featured artists performing solos in each of its three pieces. Grace Carter will provide vocals for “Summertime.”

As the sets change, the audience can enjoy the original compositions of some of the IB Music students including Alissa Forbes, Cal Hannan, Nate Cooper, Tyler Waters, Rand Walter, and Carrie Gudenkauf.

The Symphonic and Concert Band, a mix of students from all grades, will perform four pieces they’ve prepared, including a selection from “The Phantom of the Opera.”

To conclude the evening, the Wind Symphony will perform five pieces with many featured solos by seniors in the group. There will be a special tribute to retiring band paraprofessional Larry Allen, and retiring Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School band director Connie Jenkins.

All are welcome to attend the concert, and admission is free. George Mason High School is located at 7124 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church.
