Candidates Galore at Memorial Day Fete in F.C.

Potentially record numbers of hands were shaken and babies kissed during the 35th annual Memorial Day Parade and Festival in Falls Church Monday, as leading candidates from both parties and F.C. local races, as well, were all over the event.

Gubernatorial rivals Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Ken Cuccinelli both walked the length of the parade, and the Democratic rivals seeking to win their party primary on June 11 were also there. For lieutenant governor, Aneesh Chopra and Ralph Northam were on hand, and for attorney general, Mark Herring and Justin Fairfax. Challengers for the 53rd State Delegate district seat opening up with the retirement of Del. Jim Scott were also both present, Democrat Marcus Simon and Republican Brad Tidwell.

Falls Church City Council and School Board race hopefuls were present circulating petitions to qualify for the November ballot ahead of the June 11 filing deadline.
