Longfellow Student Wins $4K in Mathcounts Contest

Longfellow Middle School student Franklin Wang was named a semifinalist and winner of a $4,000 scholarship in the national Mathcounts competition held recently in Washington, D.C.

Wang and classmate Haoyuan Sun were part of the team representing Virginia, which finished in fifth place in the national competition. Mathcounts is a national middle school competitive mathematics program that promotes math achievement through a series of bee-style contests.
