In celebration of The Week of the Young Child (April 14 – 20), bilingual educator, children’s author, and recording artist José-Luis Orozco will bring his guitar and songs from throughout Mexico and Latin America to Falls Church for an interactive concert that will have children singing, dancing, and performing songs and rhymes. His educational songs in English and Spanish teach language and literacy skills and build self-esteem while he takes listeners on a musical journey through Latin American history, culture, and language.
His concert is scheduled for Saturday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School, 7130 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church.
Following the concert, Orozco will conduct a workshop for preschool and elementary school teachers and home care providers to teach his songs and methods for bringing music into the classroom.
Tickets for the concert and workshop for educators are available at fcmlcc.org. Concert tickets are $5 for children and $7 for adults.
Proceeds will benefit the Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, a full-time preschool that educates all children, regardless of their family’s resources. The event is co-hosted by the Children’s Center and the Spanish Club of George Mason High School in Falls Church.
