Two Die in F.C. House Fire

Two people were found dead in a house fire in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County early this morning.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to reports of a fire early Wednesday morning at a single family home located on the 3100 block of Manor Road. Firefighters encountered the ranch style home fully engulfed in flames upon arrival and conducted an exterior fire attack due to the overwhelming volume of fire surrounding all four sides of the home.

Officials say the fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes and that power lines on the right side of the home came down during the fire fight. During primary search operations, firefighters found a deceased body and found a second body during a secondary search. A dog and cat also perished in the fire.

The home is a complete loss.

Fairfax fire and police officials are both investigating. The names of the deceased are being withheld until notification of next of kin. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
