Virginia State Legislature Commends News-Press Parent’s 25 Years

The Virginia Senate today added its agreement to a House Joint Resolution that passed in the House last week commending the Falls Church-based Benton Communications, Inc., publisher of the Falls Church News-Press, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary in business here.

The resolution was introduced by State Del. Jim Scott. The resolution notes “the anniversary is a significant milestone for the company president and founder and editor-in-chief of the Falls Church News-Press, Nicholas F. Benton, who has guided the company since its inception and the Falls Church News-Press to over 21 years of consecutive weekly publication,” and adds that it is “committed to improving the quality of life for all the citizens of Falls Church,” having “employed and trained many young people from the community and provided and effective vehicle for numerous local businesses to advertise and grow their enterprises,” while also “advocating for affordable housing, quality education, support for the disenfranchised, and human rights and equality.”
