Open Government Coalition Clarifies Its Basis for F.C.’s ‘B’ Grade

Megan H. Rhyne, the executive director of the Virginia Coalition for Open Government clarified today the basis by which her organization gave a ‘B’ grade to the City of Falls Church, below that of its neighbors Arlington, Fairfax and Fairfax City, as reported in today’s News-Press.

The criteria used in the organization’s survey, she reported, “measured only the ease/difficulty of getting to the city budget and the quality of the budget document in terms of helping citizens understand what the numbers mean. We did not measure compliance with FOIA or related ‘sunshine law’ open government practices.”
