13 Marshall DECA Students Take 1st in District Contest

Sixty-four George C. Marshall High School DECA marketing program students took part in district competition earlier this month at Lake Braddock Secondary School.

Of those who competed in 19 categories, Marshall DECA members took first place in 13 categories.

First-place winners were Matt Travis in Automotive Services Marketing, Jackson Lee in Business Finance, Emma Heiden in Business Services Marketing, Nina Benhamida in Hotel and Lodging Management, Sam Travis in Marketing Management, Monica Dang in Quick Serve Restaurant Management, Karim Saoud in Restaurant Full Service Management, Jocelyn Golden in Retail Merchandising, Sammy Criscitello in Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Tim Ignacio in Principles of Marketing, Ryan Mercier in Principles of Finance, Michel Briody in Selling, and Jared Gurdak in Social Media.

Marshall students also took second place in 13 categories, and third place in eight categories. More than 80 percent of the school’s competitors were recognized in the district competition process.
