Falls Church Posts Record Voter Turnout of 87 Percent

Among active registered voters in the City of Falls Church today, a whopping 87 percent turned out at the City’s three polling places, according to General Registrar David Bjerke.

Bjerke told the News-Press tonight that Falls Church led all jurisdictions in VIrginia with an 82.2 percent turnout in 2008, which means that today’s turnout may again lead the state.

With all but absentee votes counted, the Obama-Biden ticket had 3,290 votes to 1,707 for the Romney-Ryan slate. For U.S. Senate, Tim Kaine carried Falls Church with 1,212 to 609 for George Allen, and for the U.S. Congress Rep. Jim Moran had 1,094 to 600 for Patrick Murray.
