Soccer Strikers Raise $1,200 for ‘Life with Cancer’ Program

pinkThe Annandale Boys and Girls Club (ABGC) U15 Girls Strikers team took “going pink” to a new level. Not only did they wear pink for their games – in custom sweatshirts, socks, headbands, and laces – but they also wanted to do something for a local organization that has provided support for one of the two breast cancer survivor “soccer moms” on the team.

INOVA Fairfax’s Life with Cancer program works with patients and survivors, kids and teens, and family and friends who are dealing with cancer, no matter where their treatment is given. Their services are free and they are supported by INOVA Health systems and private contributions. Team members cooked, baked, and decorated pink treats that they sold at the Falls Church Community Center during the farmers’ market on Oct. 20. The girls raised $1,200 for Life with Cancer in three hours. (Photo: Courtesy Peggy Morrison)
