A new statistical methodology to assess “human capital” trends in the U.S. was reported in the Washington Post web edition Wednesday, and its showed that the Washington D.C. area leads the nation, followed distantly by New York and Los Angeles, in a “city human capital index” developed by economist William Yu at UCLA. The D.C. area’s lead is buoyed by its suburbs, according to the study, and, it says, “Falls Church, Va. is the best-educated independent city or county in the country, with a score of 154.7.” Los Alamos, New Mexico is second and Arlington County is third.
