F.C. Volunteers Seek Food Donations for ‘Day to Serve’

To recognize Virginia’s Day to Serve, volunteers in the Falls Church area are collecting food this week to deliver to local food banks and human services organizations this Saturday.

Gov. Bob McDonnell declared Sept. 29 a Day of Service in the state. This effort will bring together members of the faith and nonprofit communities, Virginia’s food banks and engaged citizens to collect food donations and assist those in need.

Volunteers will be canvassing in the area to collect donations for groups including Homestretch, Falls Church Community Services Council Food Bank, Columbia Baptist “Spend Yourself” Food Pantry, Winter Homeless Shelter and HOPE.
