F.C. Utilities Open House to Feature Kid-Friendly Demos

The City of Falls Church will host its annual Public Utilities Open House on Sept. 22 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. The open house will be held at the City’s Property Yard, 7100 Gordon Road, Falls Church, home to the City’s utility crews, equipment, and fleet.

The free event includes child-friendly activities for the entire family, including taking pictures on heavy-duty equipment. Visitors are invited to watch utility employees demonstrate equipment, make water connections, and more. The City’s biodiesel and green fleet will also be on display. Visitors can check out the new Filterra System that has a tree growing from the storm drain and cisterns that collect rainwater from Property Yard roofs. The public is also invited to information and activities booths, and refreshments and door prizes will be offered at this free event.
