Since opening its doors as a renovated live music venue in 1999, the State Theater has been a primary economic driver for the City of Falls Church, drawing sell out crowds from throughout the D.C. region to its popular shows, such as the relentless Legwarmers, and for six years in a row, the annual Washington Area Music Association awards ceremony.

But far from resting on their laurels, owner Tom Carter and crew are pressing ahead with fresh renovations, this time adding to the carrying capacity of the theater-style seating balcony section of the venue. Work is now about half done on adding 200 more seats up there by expanding wing sections on both sides of the balcony. Also, the old projection booth above the balcony where the celluloid was cranked up in the original 1936-constructed theater is being renovated into a VIP lounge (I will see you there!) while all the changes maintain the Art Deco theme of the entire building.
