2941 Restaurant Chef Dies at Age 38

Patrick W. Deiss, 38, a corporate chef at the 2941 Restaurant group in Falls Church died on Aug. 3 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. He had complications from a perforated ulcer, sepsis and acute renal failure, according to news reports.

Deiss was born in Alexandria and grew up in Northern Virginia, graduating from Annandale High School in 1992. He received an associate degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., in 1998 and worked as a sous chef and executive chef at Washington area restaurants, including Gerard’s Place, Restaurant Nora and Asia Nora, before joining the 2941 Restaurant group, where he’d worked for the past decade. His positions there included head baker.
