FCA Show Features Outdoor Art; Reception Set Thursday

Falls Church Arts will celebrate its latest art show with a meet-the-artists reception Thursday for “Outdoor Creations.”

Outdoor Creations is a show that celebrates the outdoors. For the show, Falls Church Arts sought paintings made outside, as well as artful creations that are made to display or have function outside (for example, handcrafted birdhouses, feeders, planters, birdbaths and decorative tiles).

Among the pieces to be highlighted in the show are a set of giant pinwheels made by J. Schmidt Roberts that measure from four to six feet tall and are up to two feet wide.

Featured artists include, Genia Blackwell (ceramics), Garrick Boyd (photography), Gregory K.H.Bryant (wire sculpture), Meredyth Duncan (ceramics), Nancy Garcia (Drawings), Tracy Keating (glass mosaics windows), Jaclyn Sickler (metal sculpture), Llori Stein (wire sculpture), Bill Abel (plein air Paintings) and Nalini Natajaran Parrotta (stone), as well as J. Schmidt Roberts.

The public is invited to attend a free reception and enjoy free refreshments at the reception Thursday, which begins at 7 p.m. at ArtSpace Falls Church, 410 S. Maple Ave. For more information, call Falls Church Arts at 703-679-7881.
