Lady Mustangs Win District Hoops 4-Peat

George Mason High School’s girls basketball team won its fourth straight Bull Run District tournament tonight with a 59-49 victory over Central High School.

Midway through the first quarter, senior guard Leah Roth was escorted off the court with an unknown injury. The team maintained composure when play resumed and ended the quarter with an 18-6 lead. The Lady Falcons came back in the second quarter with a six point run at the beginning of the period and an eight point run to finish off the half behind 25-22. After halftime, Central glanced at the lead when sophomore Katelyn Poston hit a 3-pointer, but Mason pulled back ahead on the next play and held that lead for the rest of the game.

The Lady Mustangs play in the opening round of the regional tournament Wednesday at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School.
