Mason Swim Teams Take Region B Titles, Advance 17 Swimmers to State Meet

After topping the Bull Run District and winning the district title last month, the boys and girls varsity swim teams from George Mason High School traveled to the Region B meet Saturday at Manassas Park Community Center and secured another post-season victory.

The girls team won the regional title with a score of 101, besting second-place Central High School (51), and Clarke County High School and William Monroe High School (50), who tied for third. The boys team won with 111, in front of Clarke County in second (51) and William Monroe in third (50).

As of the Region B meet, the Mustang teams will be sending 17 swimmers to compete in the Virginia High School League state meet, set for Feb. 10-11 at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. In order to qualify for the meet, swimmers must finish faster than a set time, or finish at the regional level in one of the top four places of an event or one of the top two places of a relay.
