Lady Mustangs Top Bull Run District with Senior Night Win

George Mason High School’s girls varsity basketball team clinched the regular season Bull Run District championship last night with a 51-38 win over William Monroe High School.

Both teams had 10-1 district records going into the game, but the Lady Mustangs’ 55-22 win over William Monroe Jan. 11 gave them a chance to secure the regular season championship. Although both teams still have one district game left to play and could end the season with identical district records, Mason’s season sweep of William Monroe gives them the top seed in the district playoffs.

Junior forward Stephanie Cheney scored 14 points and sophomore center Ashley Alexander dropped 11 points on the Lady Dragons. Senior Lauren Kane added 10 points.
