Genealogical Society to Host Talk on 1940 Census Data

On Jan. 17, the Mount Vernon Genealogical Society will meet in room 112 of the Hollin Hall Senior Center.

The meeting will start at 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The meeting will feature a presentation titled “Countdown to 2 April 2012: Release of the 1940 Federal Census.” The speaker is Sandra MacLean Clunies.

Clunies is a professional genealogist, author, and lecturer. President of the National Capital Area Chapter of APG, and a past member of the APG Board of Directors.
Clunies will discuss how to prepare for the release of the census and what genealogists should know about its contents, what’s new and what’s the same so that researchers will knowing what will be presented in advance and can organize their work accordingly.

The Hollin Hall Senior Center is located four miles south of Alexandria off of Fort Hunt Road at 1500 Shenandoah Road, Alexandria.
