Mason PTSA Awards Grants for Educators

The George Mason High School PTSA recently awarded the following grants funded through PTSA fundraisers and the Falls Church Education Foundation.

Holly Herrington of the Social Studies Department was awarded an honorarium for a Korean speaker to talk to two classes.

Mary Jo West of the GMHS Music Department received funding for a workshop with jazz musician Jeff Antoniuk.

Peter Mecca of the Science Department received funds for a Trout in the Classroom project.

Joy Wagener of the English Department was awarded funding for a journalism class field trip to the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Spring Conference.

Joel Block of the Mathematics Department was awarded a grant to fund the purchase of language translation iPad apps to help ESOL students learn advanced mathematics in the classroom.

Jennifer Parsons of the Science Department was awarded a grant for a Forensic Chemistry field trip to the Crime and Punishment Museum.

Elizabeth Rizzi of the English Department was given grant funds for digital books.
