F.C. City Begins Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Project

Portions of the City of Falls Church sanitary sewer system will be evaluated by the engineering firm RJN Group Inc., throughout September, October and November. The purpose of the evaluation is to locate leaks in the sanitary system that allow storm water and other surface waters to enter the sewers. Locating and correcting these leaks will conserve expensive capacity at the treatment facility.

The study will involve smoke testing, manhole inspections and TV inspection of main lines. During the study, field crews will be accessing manholes throughout the study areas, including those located in easements that may be across properties, in addition to those located in City streets.

For more information about the sewer evaluation program contact the RJN Group at 703-281-5637 between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. or the City at 703-248-5070 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. or via e-mail at utilities@fallschurchva.gov.
