F.C. 5K Race Gets Challenge From Anonymous Donor

The Falls Church Education Foundation is organizing its sixth annual Run for the Schools 5K race and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 8 a.m. The race features a flat course throughout historic Falls Church City and ends with a family block party and awards ceremony.

The foundation was recently contacted by an anonymous donor who has organized a challenge to sign up more participants than last year which was 425. For every runner or walker who signs up exceeding 425, the foundation will receive $10.

Those interested in signing up can go to active.com and enter “Run for the Schools Falls Church.” Registration is $35 for adults and $5 for child under 12 years old. Participants receive a T-shirt, race bib with timing strip, and race packet.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Falls Church Education Foundation, a non-profit organization which provides supplemental support to the Falls Church City Public Schools. For more information about the Falls Church Education Foundation, visit fcedf.org or call 703-538-3381.
